Rural Parish Clinic

of the Archdiocese of Saint Louis

The mission of the Rural Parish Mobile Clinic is to provide high quality free primary health care for uninsured persons in the rural recesses of the Archdiocese of St. Louis in the Spirit of Jesus.

The Rural Parish Mobile clinic marks the fulfillment of a vision of Archbishop Robert Carlson to provide health care to the rural poor in the Archdiocese of St. Louis regardless of race or religion. The Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma Michigan were invited by Archbishop Carlson to provide a sister physician for the project. The three major Catholic health care systems of St. Louis are collaborating to support the mission. The clinic will provide primary health care including chronic disease management, preventative care, acute care, and referral for social services.

The clinic staff consists of an administrator, medical director, clinical coordinator and volunteer physicians and nurses. Various rural Catholic Parishes will partner with the mobile clinic by providing space for parking, a waiting room and hospitality. Opportunities for catechesis will be available for those interested.

“Jesus sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” (Lk: 9:2)
